Last night we attended the Restaurant & Catering Industry Association awards night, recognising local businesses in and around the community for their outstanding achievements. Cherry’s Catering were invited to the evening to be recognised for the support given to the Perth Frontline during the COVID outbreak.
As owners of the business Craig, Kate, and I (Deb) are excited and humbled to announce that Cherry’s Catering are the recipients of a ‘Hospo Hero’ Award!
The ‘Hospo Hero’ Award acknowledges those businesses making a significant contribution to the hospitality industry.
As a catering business, we were looking at ways to continue through COVID, as the hospitality industry was shut down. Many of our weddings and event bookings had been postponed pretty much overnight.
We wanted to help and keep ourselves busy, so we started making bulk healthy readymade meals which we would give for free to support frontline workers. Our customers were also able to purchase or donate the cost of meals which we delivered on their behalf.
In total we delivered 2179 complimentary meals well over 60% of these funded by us personally and the remainder by our generous customers.
We are proud to have been able to make such a contribution to the Perth Frontline Healthcare Service Professionals at Sir Charles Gairdner, St John of God Subiaco and Joondalup Health Campus.
