Top Tips for Perfect Summer Weddings

Beautiful wedding couple is enjoying wedding

Without a shadow of a doubt, Summer is the most popular season for weddings all over the world. Why? – The reasons are more than obvious: blue sky, warmer weather, gardens, charming outdoor venues, stunning sunsets, colorful flowers, and much more.

Whether you are tying the knot locally or heading somewhere tropical, check our tips on throwing the ultimate Summer Perth wedding.

1.    Make a Smart Timeline

The last thing you want to do is start your wedding midday with the sun at its strongest. And, your guests won’t be thrilled if they have to stand around in the sun for hours. Hence, a smart timeline is one of the “must do’s”. To make both your guests and yourself feel comfortable, try and minimize the time between the ceremony and reception. Ideally, shoot for a late afternoon ceremony and schedule an evening reception. As an added bonus, the sunset will also provide the perfect lighting for your wedding photos.

2.    Keep Your Guests Cool and Comfortable

One of the key things to think about when planning a summer wedding is how to keep your guests cool. Begin with the location and look for a venue that offers both indoor and outdoor areas. Hence, people can choose whether they want to be in the air-conditioned indoors or in the breezy outdoor area. Furthermore, think about giving out some cooling gadgets like hand-held battery-run or paper fans.

Or, before the ceremony, ask the usher to hand out ice-cold hand towels and place baskets filled with bottles of water at the side of every row. Additionally, you may even want to have some high-SPF sunscreen spray available for children and adults.

3.    Set up a Cold Refreshment Station

You don’t want your guests sipping a warm drink during the heat. People will definitely cherish having fresh, ice-cold water, perhaps in fashionable glasses with refreshing slices of orange, lemon, lime, or any other fruit. Similarly, guests may not want to drink a lot of red wine and may be more inclined to choose a chilled rose or white wine. Your bar menu can also include some frozen drinks and alcoholic cocktails.

4.    Serve Light Summery Food

A heavy, five-course meal and heat may not be the obvious choice. Consider a light and refreshing fare consisting of fresh salad with seasonal vegetables, grilled chicken or fish for the main course and some fresh fruit or fruit pies for dessert. These foods aren’t only much more appropriate for hot weather but are also easier on the finances when you are keeping to a budget. Popular menu types can be found on our wedding page.

5.     Choose Your Flowers Wisely

You definitely don’t want your flowers to wilt as soon as they get exposed to the sun. Unfortunately, not all flowers can hold up in the heat and the scorching sun. Hence, you should check out with your florist and look for some heat-resistant blooms and choose your wedding flowers having their water source ability in mind. And, no surprise, succulent plants are not only ideal for hot summer days but stylish also. Other perfect flower options for summer weddings include calla lilies, roses, sunflowers, and orchids.

6.     Select Airy Fabrics and a Summery Hairstyle

As well as your guests, the special couple should also feel confident and comfortable – not sticky and sweaty! Make sure dresses are made of light breathable fabric like silk. If you are adventurous enough, you may even go for a shorter skirt. Guys can go for light gray, beige, or linen suit. And, if choosing to wear a vest, opt for an open-backed one. In terms of hairstyles, in humid climates, curls and sculpted up-do’s may not be the best choice. Instead, go for a sleeker hairstyle like a pulled-back chignon or a low ponytail, or a fashionable braided hairstyle.
